History

History reports that Oxon Hill was named after the city of Oxford in England due to its landscape resemblance. Today, Oxon Hill is located in the southern part of Prince George’s County, Maryland and located southeast of Washington, D.C. and east of Alexandria, Virginia.  The community is bisected by the busy Capital Beltway (1-95/495) and is near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.

Oxon Hill neighborhoods consist of many garden style apartments, townhome communities and single family homes. It is famous for its National Harbor development and the new MGM National Harbor Casino on the shore of the Potomac River. The National Harbor is home to a mixed community of residential, retail, upscale dining and entertainment.
